Working behind the scenes since yesterday in the informal market of the
Toronto Film Festival, the international sales team of EuropaCorp does not
lack assets. The line-up notably features the anticipation thriller Lucy by
Luc Besson whose filming will take place from September to December with
Scarlett Johansson (appreciated this week in competition in Venice with Under
the Skin [trailer, film focus]), Morgan Freeman and Choi Min-Sik. Written by
the director, the screenplay focuses on a young woman living in Taiwan and
forced to work for the Triads of the very dangerous Mr Wang. But Lucy absorbs
a massive dose of an experimental drug and her brain’s abilities multiply,
giving her access to a very advanced form of consciousness. Tracked by Wang
and his gang but helped by a neuroscientist and a Parisian policeman, she
will attempt to survive long enough to share her new knowledge. Produced by
EuropaCorp, the feature is coproduced by TF1 Film Productions and Grive
Production.
