'Apprentice' Winner Rancic Engaged to E!'s DePandi

"The Apprentice" winner Bill Rancic, who first applied to be on "The
Bachelor," won't be one for long.

The reality show star is now the happy fiancee of "E! News" anchor Giuliana
DePandi, reports People.

"I thought I was dreaming," says DePandi about the Friday night (Dec. 15)
proposal. "It was the most amazing moment of my entire life. Not only is Bill
the love of my life, but he's also my best friend. I couldn't believe my
dream guy was asking me to marry him."

Like any self-respecting "Apprentice" winner, Rancic, 34, knew he needed a
sound business strategy with a splashy pitch to win his girlfriend's
acceptance. He began the evening with a limo picking DePandi at the airport
after she flew in from Los Angeles to Chicago and then had her delivered to a
nearby helipad.

"He met her there with deep-dish pizza, which is her favorite, and
champagne," says the couple's rep, Jim Dowd.

As they dined and took in the twinkling holiday lights below, he proposed
mid-air, and she accepted. Rancic kept the ball rolling with rose petals
scattered everywhere and a chocolate cake awaiting them at his apartment.

The couple first met when DePandi, 31, interviewed his as the first
"Apprentice" winner, but it wasn't until 10 months ago when she interviewed
him again and discovered that he was still single. Behind the scenes, Rancic
asked her out on their first date. They plan to wed in Italy, DePandi's birth
country, in late 2007.

Rancic has been with the Trump Organization since his win and appears
frequently on the show to advise the Donald. He's the author of two books,
"You're Hired" and "Beyond the Lemonade Stand."

DePandi is an anchor for "E! News Live" and often co-hosts red carpet events
with Ryan Seacrest. She also wrote a book, "Think Like a Guy: How to Get a
Guy by Thinking Like One."
