Reality TV Games participated in a post-elimination phone call with America
Next Top Model 14's Brenda Arens.

**************************************************

How tall are you?

5'11" (age?) 23. (You're in Houston now, right; did you grow up there?) I am
from Rockledge, Florida and I've been in Houston for about seven years. (Did
your family move?) No, I did it on my own, I was from a really small town and
I really wanted to get into modeling, I had been dibble dabbling with it [in
Florida]. I had and aunt and uncle in Houston... it's such a huge city, so I
moved here and stayed with them when I got here... I don't think my career
really started until I moved to Houston and I am still here today.

When did you start modeling?

I started modeling when I was sixteen, almost seventeen and I've had tons of
modeling agencies over the years... I worked overseas in Milan - my passion
is the runway and I have been so blessed to do runway shows for some of the
world's top designers, so it's been really good. In Houston, I made a big
contact who really pushed me into going overseas and building my portfolio.
(What did you do in Milan?) I did a lot of tests to build my book and an ad
for women's stockings, I met Armani and Roberto Cavalli... it was fun, I had
a lot of fun... (How long were you in Milan?) Two months - actually that
experience prepared me to go on America's Next Top Model because I had to
live in a house full of girls from all over the world, so Top Model wasn't
anything new in terms of the living arrangements.

What made you try out for Top Model?

[ANTM] is something that I always dreamed of doing, I tried out three years
ago when I was under contract with a Houston agency, I made it through all
the rounds and I was invited to go to LA so they could narrow it down [to the
final group]. I asked my modeling agency and they said, "absolutely not!" It
crushed me and I was devastated, it was really difficult to put in the work
and then be told no, so I had to wait for two and a half years for my
contract to expire and then another six months for the show to come back
around, but this time I was working pretty good and I was signed to two other
agencies - one in Houston and one in Dallas, but I really wanted to do the
show and when I asked them to let me out of my contract, they did. (Why was
the other agency opposed to you going on the show?) They said that it
wouldn't be good for my career and that they wanted me for themselves, I
think it was more of a money thing than looking out for my best interest and
not realizing that it would bring even more opportunities.

In general, can someone make a living as a local model... does it amount to
mad money or is it a solid income for a household?

Modeling has its peak seasons - its ups and downs, it's not reliable you
could have four jobs a week or you can have a job every two weeks, if you are
looking for a stable income, it's definitely not that unless you make it big,
but I never really cared about that... I am just so crazy about modeling, it
is my passion and I'm just going to go for it. I got a full-time job, I
couldn't live on just modeling alone.

When you mentioned meeting your biological father, was he in Houston or
Florida?

I was born and Florida and I was adopted in Florida, but I was living in
Houston last year when I decided that I wanted to search for [my father] and
I flew to Florida for that. (So you were able to get the information about
someone in Florida from Houston?) Yes they have those computer systems
nationwide, well of course they are different [from place to place] but [my
fiance who is a Houston police officer] was able to get the information that
we could not get easily. I couldn't find anything on my mother in the
database, apparently she never got a ticket or anything like that so it's
been harder to find her... she could have gotten married and her name is not
the same... with my father it was really, really easy because he has a rap
sheet (laughs).

So your parents were supportive?

My [adoptive] mother, before she passed away, always told me that [it was OK]
if at anytime I wanted to try to contact my birth parents. She said, "it's up
to you, it's your right," but I never really needed to, I loved my family and
I did not see a reason to and then just this past year, there's been something
inside, I don't know maybe it's because I have a daughter, but I just wanted
to start looking. (How old were you when were you adopted?) I was four, [before
that] I was in several foster homes... from seven months up to four years.
(Why so many foster homes?) Well you just stay in one foster home and then ever
y four to five months things roll over and you go to a new family. (Do you must
remember that time?) A little bit, when I was four I was extremely shy and my
speech was actually behind for my age, growing up without a father and mother
and seeing these new faces coming and going, I was very shy and to this day I
still sometimes have trust issues with adults.

(Do you know your ethnic background?) I know for sure I'm Caucasian but I
don't know after that, we have Russian friends who have said, "we swear you
have Russian in you!" and then other people are thinking Irish, but I really
don't know. (Do you have siblings?) I have a younger sister, my parents adopted
her from another family... they wanted me to have a playmate (laughs).

Why did you tell Tyra that you didn't have a good swimwear body when she
called your name at casting?

I had a child and there were thirty-two girls there, I think that only four
were mothers, so I felt that being twenty three and having a kid, your body
changes. I work out every day, but we are all a little insecure in some way,
shape or form, so... I don't know why I said that, I guess I was in shock
that I made it and I thought that during the swimwear that she would not be
as impressed with me as she was with other girls.

Were there ever any moments when you missed your daughter so much that you
would be thinking of leaving the competition?

Absolutely not! I knew what I was getting myself into when I got there and
those words never even crossed my mind, I owed it to [my five year old
daughter Alaina] to finish this, so no I wasn't going to leave over missing
her.

Who were your closest to in the Top Model house?

My girls were Raina and Jessica and we are still such good friends to this
day. They made fun of us and called us the Three Musketeers, we are going to
remain friends for a long time.

Do you think that you were portrayed fairly on the show?

I really do, until this past episode I was very patient, I tried not to talk
too much crap about the other girls, I think they portrayed me as professional
and I am OK with it.

What were your favorite and least favorite photo shoots?

My least favorite was the vampire shoot - I still get the shivers about it, I
never wore contacts a day in my life and these were two times as large as
normal contacts, I have small eyes and they didn't fit right in my eyes, it
was very painful. My favorite, even though I dreaded it the most was the nude
photo shoot - I was dreading it but when I actually got up there I felt really
calm, like I can do this and the feedback that I got from Jay made me feel eve
n more confident with the black wig, I loved it, it made me shine...
and nude in front of everybody (laughs)... I am actually really proud of
myself. (How about the runway challenge?) When I found out what the challenge
was, I was like, "if I don't win this, I am just going to kick myself in the
butt!" It would be ridiculous not to win something that you're really good
in, so I was really driven and then I was so happy when I won. (Have you
collected the prize yet, a shoot for Rachel Roy?) Yeah, I actually just got
back from New York about two and a half weeks ago - it was a great trip...
awesome!

How did people react to your makeover, please tell me that not everyone liked
it... that there were people who were at Tyra?

(Laughs), you're absolutely right, half of the people have been reacting
extremely negatively... whether it's personal friends, fans or people that
I've never even met - they're like, "oh my gosh, you just ruined her look(!)
... you've ruined her career(!)," and as you know I was very sad about it, but
the other half are like "it's so Vogue... it's so editorial." (What's going on
now?) Well it's just not ideal for everyday life and I am growing it out. It's
no longer a mohawk, it's kinda in an awkward stage, just about nose length. It
's growing fast and I need about four or five more months to get it to a nice
chin length. (Still red?) Well of course, I love being a redhead!

(But you rocked that little black wig, personally I didn't agree with Tyra or
whomever it was who didn't like the wig you wore in the Accessories photo
shoot). I actually loved the black hair, but I found it very strange [that I
was given a wig for our first photo shoot], which was supposed to represent
our makeovers. I think Tyra realized that someone really messed up because
why else would they put a wig on over my new makeover... and on top of that
Sally Hershberger [whose salon did the makeovers] was the guest judge for
that week and she was upset - that was her hair design and someone covered it
up!

How did you feel when you were eliminated?

I was very, very, very shocked to be eliminated, for the past two weeks my
pictures came out great - the vampire, the pouty faced doll for the faux
shoot. I didn't think that my CoverGirl was that awful, other girls actually
struggled more than I did and I even said in the episode, "I feel so calm...I
feel good about this shoot," so when I was standing up there in front of panel
with Alaisia, I knew I wasn't going home because all I could think about was
Alaisia in a swimsuit at eliminations and Alaisia not being able to being able
to interact at the Tinsley Mortimer party - she felt really uncomfortable and
these are things that models need to have confidence in. I just knew that I
was not going home and then when her name was called I was really devastated
because I felt that I had the most challenges out of all of the girls there...
I got the most extreme makeover. People may say that I deserved to go home or
I didn't, but I feel that I should have been allowed to stay a lot longer. (Do
you think that your best photo was selected?) No I don't think it was my best
photo, but I know it wasn't my worst either.

What are your plans now when it comes to modeling? Did being on the show meet
your expectations?

I will say that the show was fair to me in that way, learned so much, I got the
most amazing exposure that I can dream of and I have gotten some opportunities
, I feel like I have a really, really bright career ahead of me. So I am going
to go back to modeling, of course runway, but I really want to be more open mi
nded and branch out - I would love to do commercials, I have never been in fro
nt of a camera the way that I was on the show... I was being followed around by
a camera and I actually felt comfortable, so I want to try to do some hosting.
.. host a show. (What kind of show?) VH1 has shows like the Top Ten Beaches or
Best Places to Live in the US, so I think it would be awesome to be able to do
something like that. (What about agencies?) I am not signed with anyone right
now, but I do plan on re-signing with Page Parks in Houston and with Campbell
in Dallas.

Who are your favorite designers?

Michael Kors is my absolute favorite, I would just die if I ever got to be
one of his girls, I also like Luca Luca - I've met him, Vera Wang and
Alexander McQueen, there are just so many of them, I like all types if
designers for different reasons. (favorite model?) I would definitely say
Gisele [Bündchen], my [five year old daughter's Alaina's] middle name is
after her, so I love her. (Were you Giselle during the casting challenge?) I
actually did Gisele, I was kinda bummed that another girl did her as well.
(What do you like about Gisele?) I love her in general but I like her on the
runway since that sparks the most passion in me, her walk is phenomenal.
People say that she has a masculine looking face, she has that distinctive
jawline... I have just always loved her.

Are you on Facebook, Twitter or some other social network / blog?

http://ppt.cc/PLHu

Is there anything that you would like to say to your fans?

Thank you for all your continuous support and love. When I needed it the
most... when I was feeling down. I could always log on and they would make me
laugh and smile and I am always going to appreciate that.

Thank you Brenda!
