On Friday (Nov. 14) fans of the CBS comedy "The Millers" got some shocking
news. CBS has canceled the sitcom that is only a few episodes into its
sophomore season.

喜劇影集「The Millers」的影迷，在今天得到了可能會讓他們感到震驚的消息－
CBS決定取消這部第二季播出次數其實不多的sit-com。

In its first season "The Millers" were boosted by their "Big Bang Theory"
lead in on Thursday nights. This fall the network moved the comedy to Monday
nights, following "2 Broke Girls," where it has failed to keep up its
audience.

「The Millers」第一季播出時，受到超人氣前輩「宅男行不行」的加持，因而開出不錯
的收視。今年秋天，CBS把TM挪到週一檔，與職場喜劇「2 Broke Girls」做搭配播出，
結果卻流失了不少觀眾。

It's rare that a network cancels a sophomore comedy so early in the season.
So far cancellations this fall have all been freshman comedies -- "Manhattan
Love Story," "A to Z," "Bad Judge," and "Selfie." FOX also shortened its
order for "Mulaney," but second year comedies are still holding on.

二年級喜劇這麼早就被電視台取消，其實是業界少見的情形。固然目前已經有4部菜鳥
喜劇被電視台放棄(ABC的「Manhattan Love Story」與「Selfie」、NBC的「A to Z」
與Bad Judge)，就連FOX也減少了年輕喜劇演員奮鬥喜劇「Mulaney」的訂購集數。但
絕大部分的二年級喜劇，目前仍然在電視網的播出名單中。

It comes as extra surprise considering that "The Millers" booked Sean Hayes as
a series regular -- but alas it wasn't enough to save them.

也因此CBS今天對「The Millers」下的死刑通知，也讓業界多少感到意外－特別是劇組
還簽下了Sean Hayes作為影集的新加入的主角群－只可惜這舉動終究無法讓TM延長自己
的壽命。

According to the Deadline report, "The Millers" will film one more episode
before production shuts down. The Monday (Nov. 17) episode will air, but it
is uncertain whether the remaining episodes will be shown.

根據知名娛樂新聞網站「Deadline」的報導，「The Millers」在正式停播前仍然會拍攝
最後一集，下週一的新集數也會照常播出，但目前還不確定CBS還會不會把TM剩餘尚未播
出的集數給播完。

The social reaction to the news was unfazed for the most part. While a few
people seemed disappointed, many began speculating what this could mean for
"The Millers" stars Will Arnett and Margo Martindale -- including whether
this means Martindale can return to her role on "The Americans."

網路上對這消息有激烈反應的人似乎不多－儘管仍然有少數影迷表達了他們的失望。
也有不少人在看完消息之後，猜測這次砍劇對兩位主角Will Arnett與Margo Martindale

心得：看到下滑的收視成績與評價，The Millers被迫收攤其實不意外，
只是還是有點惋惜第一季開出紅盤的TM，第二季卻崩壞到CBS提早放棄的窘況
