，事實上，麻將也一樣。1920年傳入美國的麻將，與一般亞洲麻將相比，
打法可是大不同。
「比爾與茱蒂麻將俱樂部」的負責人比爾（Bill Nachenberg）說，美國麻將
與亞洲麻將有很大的不同，最主要的部份就在於在紐約的美國麻將協會，
每年4月會公布新一季的麻將胡牌牌型，大約有70種，
必須依照公布的牌型打才能胡牌，每年都不一樣。
