Poll: Apprentice, Lost most disappointing

Online poll says aside from Idol, viewers aren't impressed with midseason as
a whole. （我同意）


An online poll conducted by Media Life Magazine indicates that TV viewers and
media buyers are none too impressed with what the nets are offering for
midseason. The exception was American Idol, which participants said will
likely help carry the Fox network to first place in the ratings year.

Idol returned for its sixth season last week with gangbusters numbers. The
show's two-night event of auditions from Minneapolis and Seattle drew over 80
million viewers.

Over 32 percent of poll respondents think Idol's ratings will fade over the
season, but most believe Idol has a lot of life left in it. Almost 40 percent
think the talent show will stay popular for another two years, then begin a
slow decline. Fifteen percent say it has three good years left, while over 20
percent give it four years. Only 10 percent think this is the last season the
show will enjoy good ratings.

Respondents agreed on what they didn't like. A whopping 62 percent were
saddened by Donald Trump's new Los Angeles-based Apprentice.

The next most disappointing show was ABC's Lost, which got almost 22 percent
of the vote. Once the darling of the TV-viewing crowd, Lost has experienced
some bumps in its season-three road--the show is down about a million weekly
viewers from season two. The show's creators have begun talking about a
definite end point for the show, hoping that will satisfy fans who say there
are too many open-ended storylines.

Generally, viewers seem unexcited about the new and returning midseason
shows. When asked what midseason show respondents were excited about, almost
half replied, "None, they're all losers."
