俳優・宇津井健さんが１４日午後６時５分、慢性呼吸不全で亡くなった。８２歳だった。
東京都出身。関係者によると、肺気腫を患い、入退院を繰り返していたという。
宇津井さんは俳優養成所出身。１９５４年、新東宝に入社。
５５年、「青春物語」に主演以降、新人スターとして大活躍した。
山口百恵と共演した「赤い迷路」「赤い運命」の“赤いシリーズ”などで、
正当派の２枚目スタートとしての地位を確固たるものとした。
６５年から７１年にＴＢＳ系で放送された「ザ・ガードマン」に主演。
ダンディなスターとして人気を博した。０６年２月からは、
肺炎を患い入院した藤岡琢也さん（０６年１０月死去）に代わり、
「おかくら」の大吉として、ＴＢＳ系「渡る世間は鬼ばかり」に出演。
昨年５月、６月に放送されたスペシャル版にも出演していた。
藤岡さんが亡くなった時には「兄というか分身を失ったようで、
強い悲しみを受けている」とコメントしていた。
なお、故人の以降により、通夜・告別式は密葬で執り行い、後日「お別れの会」を開く
という。
