這其實是呼應公衛部門鼓勵大家為防災應變做好準備的宣傳內容之一。他們的理論是：如
果你做好抵禦殭屍攻擊的準備，同樣的準備對颶風、瘟疫、地震或恐怖攻擊同樣用得上。
「聯邦緊急管理局」(Federal Emergency Management Agency)為轄下的「市民組織委員
會」Citizen Corps）舉行線上研討會， .為社區做好更充分的防範災難準備。
聯邦「疾病控制預防中心」年首度向媒體發出「殭屍末日」警告，也是為了同一目的。
