BAFTA Suspends Harvey Weinstein’s Membership

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has suspended Harvey Weinstein
’s membership “in light of recent very serious allegations,” the org said
today. BAFTA has informed the embattled producer that the suspension is
effective immediately.
英國影視藝術學院(以下簡稱BAFTA)在昨天宣布，由於近期越來越多藝人的指控，
他們已經暫停話題人物「哈維溫斯坦」在此組織的會員資格。BAFTA並補充他們
已經告知這位陷入麻煩的製片︰此處分已經從發布起即刻生效
Weinstein has long been a fixture on the BAFTA circuit, hosting a Friday
night dinner before the film awards and turning up at the nominees party as
well as hosting a post-ceremony party.
溫斯坦長年以來一直是BAFTA相關活動的資助與承辦者，其活動內容除了包含在頒獎
典禮前的周五晚宴外，還會出席提名者專屬派對；此外，他也是頒獎典禮之後派對
的共同主辦人
Here is BAFTA’s statement:
BAFTA的聲明如下︰
“Whilst BAFTA has previously been a beneficiary of Mr Weinstein’s support
for its charitable work, it considers the reported alleged behaviour
completely unacceptable and incompatible with BAFTA’s values. This has led
to Mr Weinstein’s suspension, and it will be followed by a formal process as
laid out in BAFTA’s constitution.
「儘管(註︰英式英文有時候會此用Whilst)BAFTA先前的確從溫斯坦先生為慈善活動與
工作中投入的資助而受益，但我們認為他近來在媒體上被報導的行為方式是本組織價
值觀念中所不能接受也不能容忍的，所以我們要對溫斯坦先生執行停權，此命令將會
在經過對照BAFTA組織規定的流程後正式執行」
“We hope this announcement sends a clear message that such behaviour has
absolutely no place in our industry.
「我們希望這項聲明能傳遞一則明確的訊息，那就是︰在我們的產業圈內，這種(惡
劣的)行為是絕對沒有容忍空間的」
“BAFTA will continue to work with the film, games and television industries
to improve access to rewarding and fulfilling careers in safe, professional
working environments.”

心得︰這是重要獎項組織對溫斯坦開的第一槍，不知道那些會員的權益包括哪些？
雖然說其實也不難推斷啦，應該就是為自己旗下作品角逐獎項、
幫自己推薦作品拉票，甚至在各獎項投票的權益吧(當然我還是希望其他人能補充)
與此同時，歐洲三大影展的高層都已經發布指責溫斯坦的聲明稿

說到英國，幾位英國一線影星也已經透過推特與聲明稿發表對溫斯坦醜聞的看法
Variety報導有主動回應的影星包括艾瑪華森與柯林佛斯，
而他們先前都有參與過溫斯坦投資電影的演出(佛斯就是奧斯卡封帝作王者之聲，
艾瑪則是知名度較低但也提名過奧斯卡的瑪麗蓮夢露傳記電影)
