The Last Jedi enjoys a 93 percent “Fresh” score on Rotten Tomatoes, and the
fan score is at a “Rotten” 58 percent. That number will inevitably change as
more people see the movie, but it will almost certainly remain drastically lo
wer than The Force Awakens and Rogue One’s respective 88 and 87 percent fan a
pproval numbers…

This is not to say that Rotten Tomatoes’ audience score is some great authori
ty on the perception of moviegoers. But at least judging by the mixed reaction
from the earliest and most eager of Star Wars fans, The Last Jedi did more fo
r critics than it did for fans. Why?

Likely the biggest reason critics were so enthused about The Last Jedi is the
exact same source of discord amongst the fans: it is not what we traditionally
want from a Star Wars movie.

While the general critical approach is to embrace something that can artfully
or even thrillingly subvert expectation, these are some of the exact elements
that fans are currently vocally despising on Twitter.

double for a long-running franchise like Star Wars. But for fans, it’s the l
ong-running familiarity that is so exciting. You are going back to that world
with these characters. Again.

at even if he gets an epic and legendary sendoff wherein he really does stare
down the entire might of the First Order with only a laser sword, it doesn’t
mean that he hasn’t been depicted as broken or regretful. The antithesis of t
he Luke Skywalker in the much more fan service-inclined Expanded Universe wher
e Luke remained ever the irreplaceable hero. In The Last Jedi, he is literally
replaced.

看著路克天行者和其他角色被徹底解構，意味著即使他帶著光劍（原文說laser sword）

What critics look for—originality, differentiation, something new—might only
go so far with the most invested of fans. For some, the quality of the film b
ecomes a secondary concern after how characters are worlds and presented based
on preconceived notions from other media. And this is not exclusive to Star W
ars.

影評追求的，原創性，發展性，改變，或許正和某些最投入的影迷背道而馳。對有些人而
言，電影的品質是其次，次於最重要的角色，和角色所代表的意義。Star Wars也不例外
。

So too does The Last Jedi dare to blaspheme Luke Skywalker by making him a mer
e mortal. One who can lose faith or give in. So while he, and his film, can tr
anscend to a higher plain for critics who reward ambition, it might levitate j
ust out of bounds for those who care most.

同理可見於The Last Jedi，褻瀆了路克天行者，把他變成一個普通人，一個會失去信念
和失敗的人。就算路克和這部電影對欣賞新視野的影評來說是提升到更高層次，或許這做
法卻失去了那些在乎最深的人。

喜歡老三部曲的不一定是當初在1977年看首映的人，其實有很多小孩也喜歡老三部曲。

黑武士預告那個影片5:55，爸爸和兩個女兒看見黑武士都興奮尖叫了。

如果他們只是舊時代的產物，需要被淘汰的人，就不會一直吸引新的觀眾--不分男女老幼
。而也是那些稀有的特質，讓支持多年的影迷們念念不忘。

主觀感想，不代表誰的意見～

第8集給我的感覺，像是強迫遷村。

不論是從老三部曲開始喜歡星戰，還是從前傳認識星戰，或是從俠盜，7接觸星戰，也不
論你在這一區住了多久，都是喜歡星際大戰的一份子。

第8集就像把這一個村落給強制拆除，老房子都燒光了，蓋一棟新大樓叫大家搬進去住。
而大樓也招募了很多別的地方搬進來，以前沒住過舊區域的新人。

或許大部分的人都樂意接受了，畢竟舊房子老了也幾十年了，換一棟更大更新的住處也很
好。他們欣賞新家的優點，同時也記得舊家的好。

但也有這樣一群人，不想搬家，不想搬到新的大樓，就是想在老家繼續住下去。

除舊佈新是無可避免的趨勢，但不是每個人都能發自內心喜歡變革，即使他比較新，比較
符合時代趨勢，但老家已經在你有著無可取代的地位和價值，一年兩年十幾年甚至幾十年
了，不是能輕易割捨的。

但舊家又被燒光了，回不去。有人可能跟著去住新家。但有人可能真的就不走了，留在原
地，看著老家變成逝去的僅存心裡的回憶，默默黯然。

我不能代表誰發言，但我本身就是不喜歡搬家的人。

新的世代，新的Star Wars。
全新的人物和電影想拉人進去同樣叫星際大戰但本質大換血的世界。

They told you to let go.

經典可以延續或改變，但變更那些經典人物和元素的結果，是帶來新氣象或抹殺過去，就
見仁見智了。

我佩服嘗試改變並欣賞創新的人，不管是導演團隊或喜歡的觀眾。

我只是找不到放手的理由。
