看摩登家庭學英文_Modern Family S01E04 - 歐美

又到了新的一週，現在每個禮拜都會想著不能讓讀者們失望，而奮力繼續敲鍵盤！各位讀

最初成立部落格的初衷其實是想跟大家分享一些不錯的國外媒體或好書，畢竟國外媒體有
許多文章都和個人發展或是職業生涯有關，有不少受用的國際趨勢，但大家可能沒有時間
去看英文版的，所以才幫大家翻譯成中文，順便加上一些我的個人看法，經營一陣子之後
突然想到我的另一個興趣：看美國影集，因而發展了這個side project，沒想到大獲好評
，喧兵奪主的成為部落格的主軸，所以各位讀者們如果對職業或個人發展的議題有興趣的

Modern Family season 1 episode 4--The incident

這一集是書蟲女孩個人覺得前四集中最好笑也最喜歡的一集，有爆笑也有感動，中間還穿
插 Jay 跟 Gloria 的婚禮影片，相當用心！帶領觀眾們一步步認識這個家庭，一步步帶
出角色們的關係與個性，這就是為什麼我到現在都還是持續追這部劇，因為你會對劇中的
角色們產生共鳴與感情！本集 Jay 的前妻，Claire 和 Mitchell 的媽媽 Dede 初登場，
整集圍繞著一年多前 Dede 在婚禮上所造成的 “The incident”做敘述，鬧劇再度上演
，沒想到最後居然是 Haley 的男友 Dylan 化解了一切，可是 Dylan 還真是只有三分鐘
的聰明啊～最後一段 Dylan 送給Haley 的歌我真的是每看必笑，太洗腦了！

be full of yourself 自滿
To have a high opinion of yourself -used to show disproval.
Phil: Somebody is full of herself.

wasted (adj.) 喝醉的（口語用）
Very drunk or affected by drugs.
Haley: Nanna got totally wasted!
Haley: Why are you always on me about everything?＝Why are you always nagging
me?
這句話其實很像中文裡面小孩會跟爸媽頂嘴說「你為什麼要一直煩/刁難我！」的感覺蠻
類似的

nag (v.)
to keep asking someone to do something, or to keep complaining to someone about
their behavior ,in an annoying way.

slumber party (n.) 睡衣派對
a children's party when a group of children sleep at one child's house.

dredge up 舊事重提
1.to start talking again about something that happened a long time ago.
2.to manage to remember something, or to feel or express an emotion, with
difficulty.
3.to pull something up from the bottom of a river.
Mitch: Instead of dredging up the whole incident, maybe we should just try
and repress it.

pave the way for something 類似中文中的開場白或暖場
to make later event or development possible by producing the right conditions.
Dede: Maybe you can pave the way so that I can apologize.

rad (adj.)
exciting or interesting
Phil: I think concerts are rad.

hood (n.) 附近/鄰里
Derived from "neighborhood". An area which one lives/lived/ or is in.
Mitch: Just in the hood. 剛好在附近


karma(n.) 因果報應
1.the belief that all the good and bad things that you do in this life affect
how good or bad in your future lives will be.
2.the feeling that you get from a person, place or an action.
Dede: Karma's a funny thing.

wreck (n.) 破壞
the ruin or destruction of anything
Mitch: She's a wreck about what happened at the wedding.

pull a fast one (on) :
to successfully deceive someone (often + on )
Jay: But Gloria would never forgive me if I pulled a fast one on her.
