"Life of Pi" shines spotlight on Taiwan


It was an unforgettable moment for fans of Ang Lee when he walked away with
the Best Director Oscar for his 3-D adventure epic Life of Pi at the 85th
annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles on Feb.24. Life of Pi also bagged the
awards for best musical score, cinematography and visual effects that day.

Many of Lee's Taiwanese fans watched a live broadcast (it was Monday
afternoon here), and literally burst into tears, laughter and screams, some
even hugging each other, when Lee's name was read out. News of his win at the
Oscars spread a little too fast on Facebook. In less than 30 seconds, Taiwan
users swamped Facebook with hundreds of congratulatory messages for the
director...
