Next Top Model 16's Dominique Waldrup.

How old are you?
Twenty-three. (Height?) 5' 9" - 5'9 1/2" I believe. (Hometown?) Houston.
(Ethnicity / nationality?) My father is Hispanic, he is from America but his
ancestors come from Mexico and Spain and my mother is black... her family is
from Louisiana and from pictures that I have seen our grandfathers look like
white men, it hasn't been confirmed but I think that they are probably
Creoles... French, so I am just a mutt period (laughs).

How was it like growing up with freckles?
A lot of people think that I was born with freckles but I did not have all
these freckles when I was younger. Freckles come from the sun, they are like
a sun discoloration, so it was not a bad thing growing up because I did not
have that many... every year or when I was out in the sun, I'd get more and
more. (So was that a good, bad or whatever thing?) It was like "whatever...
hey, this is me," that was the least of my worries, I was picked on for being
skinny and people would call me toothpick and of course I could not say it
when I was younger, but I had the mentality of [screw you], this is one thing
that kills me, the world can tell a female that, "oh, you're too skinny," but
it is a sin for you to tell someone that you're too fat, why is that? I don't
understand, my feelings are just as hurt as someone who is overweight because
people are constantly telling me that I am underweight and I know I eat and
am trying to gain weight. (Did they think that you had an eating disorder?)
Not the people around me, they knew I ate my ass off, but [casual
acquaintances]... people who did not know me were like, "do you even eat?"
and people who knew me would say, "she eats all right, she'll eat you out of
house and home!"

The college you went to was not in Houston, right?
I went to college in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for five years. (Your major was
marketing, right?) Yes. (Are you doing something related to marketing now?)
No I am not doing anything related to marketing right now, I am tutoring at
an elementary school and middle school in my local area. (What subject?)
Math... my strong subject (laughs), I am helping the kids prepare for the end
of the year test [required by the state of Texas]. (Do you have an interest
in education in addition to modeling?) Yes, I have an interest in both but I
am not interested in education as a full-time career, I do it because I enjoy
helping individuals like myself... the students that I work with come from
the same area that I'm from, I can literally walk to the school if I wanted
to... helping the students become better people is what I enjoy. I don't want
this to be a career, I want it to be something that I do for a hobby because
a career can be less joyful and more of, "I just have to go to work"... I
want to make sure that I continue to enjoy this because these are other lives
that I'm touching and not just my life.

How are they reacting because you are a celebrity now?
Oh you should have seen them on the day the show premiered... I went to the
front office to send a fax and and I was talking to the lady there and she
was looking behind me and had this look on her face like, "what is going on?"
and I turned around and all these kids had followed me to the office because
they saw me on TV (laughs). They were like, "oh my gosh Miss, you were on
TV!" and they feel like they have a tutor / teacher here who is famous. Of
course in their eyes they feel like I'm famous but I am just a regular person
who was on a TV show... it was very joyful to see them so excited and that I
was here helping them even though I was on TV. (So were they more cooperative
or were they too excited?) I wish they were more cooperative but it was more
of the second one, I had to tell them that we will have to talk about
America's Next Top Model in the hallway between classes because in class it
was hard to get their attention, it's easier now, but those first couple of
day [after the premiere], they had a million and one questions but they ran
out of questions and now they are ready to learn again. (What questions are
you most frequently asked?) How is Tyra? Did you really get to meet Tyra? Who
won, of course I can't tell them any of that. With the middle school kids, a
lot of them like to tease and tested me a little bit. (What has been their
attitude since your elimination?) Now they are on my side, they were like, "I
don't like Tyra any more" Now it's like we are all family and friends and
their baby has been cut off and they're mad at everyone who was involved in
the elimination, now they are like, "I don't even want to watch the show any
more!"

How did you come to be cast on Top Model?
I got a retail job [in a local mall] to have some money in my pocket after
graduation, and on my first day at work I was scouted by [ANTM] casting
associates. I was invited to a private audition which is really like making
it to the next round after the open casting call. (Did you go from Houston to
California?) [I basically went through all the rounds in Houston in one day]
and from there I went to the semi-finals in California]... they pulled
thirty-something girls from the five major cities: Houston, Miami, New York,
Los Angeles and Chicago.

What was up with that whole fake out thing [when the finalists were given
rejection notices and the other candidates were told that they had advanced],
were those candidates or actresses?
Oh no, those were real people(!), yeah I feel bad for them because their
feelings were extremely hurt, if anyone got fooled, they got fooled! Those
were real people and you should have seen [some of] them when we were there,
they had their pictures and were looking at us and basically tried to make us
feel sad, one girl was like, "I'm in the house!" and she was looking me all
up and down like, "Bitch, I'm in this thing" and that's why you're going
home" Yeah, they thought that they were really the [final fourteen]... they
were real contestants all right, they weren't actors. (So you all were told
"psyche" in a good way and they were told "psyche" in a bad way?) Yeah, [one
of the final fourteen] knew one of the girls who was not chosen and she said
that they basically put them on the bus and told them, "Sorry ladies but you
guys are the ones going home," and it was all hell from there. (So those
girls were upset?) Yeah, that's my way of saying that I'm pretty sure that
the girls were extremely upset according to what [the girl who made it]
stated that her friend said.

Who were your friends in the house?
I would say that the people that I was closest to were Audie... Ondrei, Sarah
and Monique - you guys did not see Monique and I sharing the couch for about
a week or so [because there were fourteen of us and twelve beds]. Monique and
I had a nice view of LA, we were on that nice comfy couch and the girls were
on those hard beds. (Are you being ironic?) No, I'm being real... when I had
the opportunity to sleep in a bed, after sleeping in the bed I was like, "I
want to go back to my couch," the couch was really comfortable and the bed
was hard like rocks. (Were they dorm room beds?) Yeah, they were like dorm
room beds, like [twin size] beds that you would get from IKEA, of course they
make it look good with the covers and stuff, but the mattress itself was a
bit hard and wobbly... there were bunk beds and it was hard to get on the top
bunk... you can't do too much movement in your sleep because the person below
you would probably be mad at you.

Who are you rooting for to win?
I don't have a really specific person that I want to win but I want anybody
but Alexandria's ass to win, sorry if that sounds a little rude, but that's
my opinion. Any one of those girls are fine winners to me, I just don't want
Alexandria to win, I don't care how much of a model she can look like in a
photo... her attitude, her personality is the worst, at the end of the day,
karma is a bitch and karma's gonna come back on her ass so hard that it ain't
gonna make no sense... perhaps she may be one of those people who is like a
sweetheart behind closed doors and maybe she acted like an asshole because of
the competition.

How did you like your makeover?
I thought it was good, I know that it looked like I was crying, but it was
more like whining and then on top of that I was not whining about my hair, I
was whining about my eyebrows which you guys did know that because they only
show so much of what I said. I was like "oh my gosh, my eyebrows are
extremely red and I look like a clown," but when my full head was done and my
makeup was done, I was like, "oh OK, I can get used to this," because I never
changed my hair color before and this was a [180]. (Do you still have your
makeover?) No, actually I don't, the day before the premiere I dyed my hair
to an oranger color and now it's straight, ... like the freckled face kids
you see, so it is not curly like it was... I could never get the makeover
again after I left the beauty salon, I guess it the beautician's touch
(laughs).

What was the dress that you wore in the couture challenge?
The black gown was an Alexander McQueen dress. I don't know who the designer
was for the colorful arms armbands, the tutu things that made it puffier and
the leggings.

What few words pop in your mind about...
Nothing... no comment, I literally don't know [them] so I can't say anything
about these people because we don't have any real interaction with them and I
refuse to give an opinion on people that i have not had any real interaction
with, the only person that I had any real interaction with behind the scenes
was Miss J and I will say two words, phenomenal and fierce... **** fierce,
fierce is a word that you hear all the time, no real, real and fabulous.

What are your plans when it comes to modeling?
I was actually talking about this with my grandfather last night and as soon
as they give me the okey-doke that I am no longer under this contract, I am
sending off as many candid photos to agencies in hopes that someone is
willing to work with me and help me to mold myself into the future model that
I want to be and with that being said, I plan to go to New York or Los
Angeles.

Who are your favorite fashion designers?
Stacey Bendet for Alice + Olivia, I have never had any of her things, in me
and my family's financial situation I cannot afford the clothes that I admire
but her style is something that I can see myself wearing, it is not over the
top. I am realistic thinker, so I don't think, "oh, that's so creative or
beautiful," I think, "that is a great outfit for me to wear to an event."

Who are your favorite models?
As of now... who couldn't like Arlenis Sosa or Chanel Iman. I would say [that
I like Arlenis] over Chanel right now, but Chanel that girl... she is so
young and she is well in the game that's like the next Tyra.

Are you on Facebook, Twitter or some other social network?
I have a Facebook fan page.

Is there anything you would like to say to your fans?
To my fans... I love them all and thanks for the support, at the end of the
day I am human like everyone else.
